We spent a great weekend in Seaton. Harry and Simon had been with Mum and Dad all week for their regular holiday with their grandparents.
We travelled on Thursday via Bristol to visit the university there. The University seemed good and the city is much improved and lively, but not Matt’s favourite, probably because it is not a campus university.
Dad went into hospital for a pre-surgery check up on the Friday so we went to Lyme Regis. After a Fish & Chips lunch we walked back along the beach. An athletics club was holding a pole vaulting training session on the beach, with a track laid out on the sand.
Harry was keen to have a go and, after some professional teaching, was able to clear 1.43 metres. Not bad for a little chap!
After a roast Sunday lunch at the Whistle Blower Inn near Cricket St Thomas we drove back to East Grinstead. In the evening we met up with Alison and her new “friend” Sam from Oxford University. Alison had arrived from Germany that afternoon and was flying to SD the following morning. We all went up to the Ship for a drink, Don, Graham and Peter were their too.
After taking Alison to Gatwick, Monday was spent doing jobs and playing squash with Simon.
